Despite the various challenges that we female travellers face, that doesn't stop us, just like it shouldn't stop you. Do what you fear, and if you fear, do it anyway, but safely with knowledge, because we believe that knowledge helps protect us. ;)
Today's tips are about how to stay safe in an uncomfortable situation:
Pay attention to your surroundings.
If you are approached by someone who makes you feel uncomfortable, walk away as soon as possible.
If walking away is not enough, pretend that you are talking to someone on the phone or that someone is calling you.
Try to go where you are going with someone; never walk alone at night.
Do not fall asleep on any means of transport.
Stay away from public and visible places.
Do not say where you are staying or where you are going.
Be sure to trust your intuition if it tells you it's best to back off, act, or walk away.
The fear of the trip itself and what might happen to you is calmed down by the actual trip. With or without fear, there is more and more to see and to create unique memories. To reiterate what we've been saying, whether you're traveling solo or not, know that you're not alone in this fear because traveling is liberating, exciting, and so much more.
''Decide that you want it more than you are afraid of it.'' - Bill Cosby
Bon voyage. :)
