Have you ever paid more than 25 € in a bar for a few cocktails and sat on the terrace of the bar?

Visiting another country raises many questions. As well as walking around the city, enjoying drinks, etc. In case you didn't know, we're big fans of good drinks, good food, and definitely of Italy. We go there every chance we get, and we went to Trieste a while back, where we resented the experience a bit, but we're still happy to go there because we're big fans of the saying: Don't let one experience change all your previous good experiences.

As we wrote, we went to Trieste, and whenever we are there, we go for a cocktail and a snack. We stick to the fact that we don't always go to the same bar, but always to a new one, because we love small changes.

So, we went to the new bar and sat on their patio. Since it was mid-summer, we would have expected higher prices, but not so high that you ‘’almost have a stroke’’ haha.

The waiter comes to us and asks what we're going to drink, and we both order an Aperol Spritz each, and we get some small snacks to go with it, which in Italy is inevitable with the drink (it's a shame that this is not practiced here in Slovenia either). We drank these two Aperol Spritzes and ordered again. When we finished our last drink, we asked for the bill, and when he brought us the bill and told us the price, we almost fainted. We had to pay 65 €... So, one cocktail came to 15 €, and we were charged 5 € for sitting outside on the terrace for almost an hour.

When we asked why the price was so high, as one cocktail on the menu was 7 €, he just told us that they reserve the right to change the prices from minute to minute and that we should pay and leave. In shock, we paid and left, but we'll never go back to that bar again.

From then on, we keep asking if the prices on the menu are authentic, and if they don't have written prices. We ask them for them, we check the "reviews" of the bar we're going to. Be more careful than we were. Don't let this experience of ours deter you from visiting different bars around the world, but let it be as much a lesson for you as it is for us. ;)
